Man attacked with bottle in Armadale

by Rebecca Garrett

A man was assaulted with a bottle in an unprovoked attack in Armadale.

The 35-year-old and his group of friends were walking up South Street just after midnight on Thursday, December 29 and had just reached Bathville Cross when a man approached him.

The man struck him in the face with a bottle, cutting his cheek, and then walked off down Station Road with a woman.

The victim called an ambulance and was taken to St John's Hospital where he is still being treated.

The suspect is described as being around 6ft tall, heavy build and was wearing a red-hooded top.

The woman with him was of medium build with dark hair and was wearing red/pink pyjama bottoms.

A police spokesperson said: "This was an entirely unprovoked attack which has resulted in a man suffering a serious injury, which may leave a permanent scar.

"We would appeal for anyone with any information to contact us immediately; likewise we would be keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the description of the suspect."

Anyone with any information should contact police on 0131 311 3131, or the charity Crimestoppers in confidence and complete anonymity on 0800 555 111.
