Armadale station fails to open
The Helensburgh to Edinburgh Waverley railway line via Airdrie and Bathgate re-opened on Sunday, 12/12/2010, on schedule and with a full and uninterrupted train service. The last passenger trains on this route ran as long ago as 1956.
Blackcraigs station was open, minus a few minor services, such as the passenger train information system.
It looks as if Armadale will continue to be served by bus from Bathgate for some weeks. Quite a bit of work still needs to be completed at Armadale and at Caldercruix, due to the snows creating such difficult working conditions.
The journeys back and forth on the new line are quick, comfortable and efficient. Much of the snow was still lying on Sunday the 12th December, however railway staff have cleared the railway tracks, points, paths and platforms at all of the stations, etc.
